Grief

Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.

Jamie Anderson

Grief is a deeply painful emotional state. Whether you have lost a loved one through death or their still alive. The pain is the same. But there is actually different forms of grief. Maybe you experienced a significant loss and life transition recently, those feelings are similar to grief.

How do you cope?

There is no easy way around the emotions of grief. It’s a process combining time, healthy coping skills and external support outside of ourselves.

There is a need to understand that while grief is painful, it’s not impossible. Acknowledging the feelings you are experiencing is a first step in that direction.

But what we don’t talk about enough… is how much daily self care is apart of this journey. Those emotions are so heavy and all consuming, it takes a toll on your physical body just as much as the emotional stress. Energetically is heavy! With all of that in mind, self care routines are a must to slowly take baby steps in directions that bring profound healing and understanding.

If you are experiencing grief, please reach out and communicate with those around you. Use the resources available to you to help you find ways to cope with these experiences.
